Benue experienced a significant decrease in security incidents and casualties between Jan 1 - Jul 1, 2026, and the same period in 2025. Incidents dropped by 15.7% from 127 to 107, while fatalities saw a dramatic 77.4% reduction from 740 to 167. Rising Risk
While overall incidents have decreased, Homicide remains the most frequent risk in Benue, accounting for 35 of the 107 incidents recorded between Jan 1 - Jul 1, 2026. This persistent threat, alongside Kidnapping (21 incidents), suggests that these violent crimes continue to pose a significant challenge to security forces and the populace.
Severity Level
Insufficient lethality data for this period.
Future Outlook
The sharp decline in fatalities and victims suggests a positive security trajectory for Benue. However, the continued prevalence of Homicide and Kidnapping indicates that these risks will likely remain prominent in the near term. Continued vigilance and targeted interventions against these specific threats are recommended.
