Activity Pace
Security incidents in Edo from Jan 1 to Jul 1, 2026, remained stable with a marginal decrease of 1.1% compared to the same period in 2025 (92 vs 93 incidents). However, the number of victims increased by 7.6% (156 vs 145), indicating a concerning trend of more individuals affected per incident.
Rising Risk
While overall incidents are stable, there has been a significant decrease in fatalities, down 61% from 100 in Jan 1 to Jul 1, 2025, to 39 in the same period of 2026. This suggests a potential shift in the nature of criminal activities or improved response mechanisms, though the increase in victims warrants continued monitoring.
Severity Level
Insufficient lethality data for this period.
Future Outlook
Given the stable incident numbers but increased victim count, the near-term outlook suggests a continued need for vigilance. The significant drop in fatalities may not be sustainable, and efforts should focus on mitigating the impact on victims, especially considering Kidnapping remains the most frequent risk.
