Activity Pace

Security incidents in Ekiti have decreased significantly, with a 56.7% drop from 30 incidents in Jan 1 – Jul 1, 2025, to 13 incidents in the same period of 2026. Fatalities also saw a 57.1% decrease. However, the number of victims has more than tripled, increasing by 231.3% from 16 to 53, indicating a concerning rise in the severity of attacks or the number of individuals affected per incident.

Rising Risk

While overall incidents have decreased, Armed Robbery and Kidnapping remain the most frequent threats in Ekiti, each accounting for 3 incidents in the Jan 1 – Jul 1, 2026 period. The concentration of these risks, particularly in Ado Ekiti, suggests that these violent crimes continue to be a primary concern for security managers and travellers.

Severity Level

Insufficient lethality data for this period.

Future Outlook

Despite the overall reduction in incidents and fatalities compared to the same period last year, the substantial increase in victims suggests that ongoing vigilance is crucial. The persistent threat of armed robbery and kidnapping, coupled with a higher number of individuals impacted per event, indicates that security measures should focus on mitigating the impact on individuals and preventing mass casualty events.
