61 Sokoto Talluje Jul 02, 2026 Bandits have killed the chief Imam of Talluje village in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State and two others. The onslaught, which reportedly lasted for almost two hours targeted the two communities in the Danchadi District of the local government. The incident brings the number of chief Imams killed in the area to three within the past few weeks. The bandits were said to have launched coordinated attacks on both communities simultaneously, shooting indiscriminately before fleeing with an unspecified number of rustled livestock. 62 Oyo Ogo Oluwa Jul 02, 2026 Report reaching DAILY POST from Oyo State indicates rainfall has washed away one of the bridges linking some communities. The bridge is linking Osupa Orile community with Ajaawa in Ogo Oluwa local government area. Residents of Osupa Orile, Ajaawa and other communities are currently stranded. It was learnt that the collapsed bridge has paralysed commercial and farming activities in the area. Community leaders appealed to Oyo State government to come to their aid. 63 Taraba Gwomu Jul 02, 2026 A violent clash has reportedly broken out in Gwomu community, Bikwin Ward of Karim Lamido local government council of Taraba State, involving suspected herders and local residents, leaving at least three people dead and several villages destroyed. According to local reports, the incident escalated on Thursday, resulting in the burning of three villages and the displacement of numerous residents who fled to nearby communities including Bambuka, Dadiya, Loh, and Panya. The affected settlements were identified as Bobbo, Weyam, and Bakau, all located in the Gwomu Bayan Dutse area of Karim Lamido council. Residents alleged that there was no visible security presence in the area from the time the violence began through the following morning, raising concerns over response time and protection of vulnerable communities. 64 Taraba Wukari Jul 02, 2026 Former Secretary to the Benue State Government (SSG), Prof. David Salifu, has died after reportedly sustaining gunshot injuries during an attack by suspected kidnappers. According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday in Wukari, Taraba State, while Prof. Salifu was travelling to Makurdi. He was said to have escaped from the assailants but suffered gunshot wounds during the attack. He was rushed to a hospital in Makurdi for treatment but was later confirmed dead on Thursday night. 65 Kano Riruwai Jul 01, 2026 Three artisanal miners have died while two others lost consciousness following a mining incident in Riruwai, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident occurred on Wednesday after fumes from a water-pumping machine reportedly filled a mining pit where the victims were working.
